Jeff James
Sr. Pastor  email Jeff

Jeff has served as the Senior Pastor of Mt. Vernon since 1999.  In his tenure at Mt. Vernon, it has been his passion to see the Mt. Vernon family be a people of vision: to be able to have a picture of what could be, should be and what God wants it to be.  The past decade has been a testimony of that God given vision, the power of God and the life change that is possible with God.  Mt. Vernon has become an environment where people love to bring their friends, neighbors and co-workers.   Mt. Vernon truly is a place for people who have given up on “church.”

Jeff has been given the opportunity to forge relationships though out the community.  He has been privileged to work closely with Columbus Air Force Base.  Mt. Vernon, under Jeff’s leadership, was asked to have at satellite campus on base for 2008.  He has also led the Mt. Vernon family to establish joint worship services which crossed racial and denominational lines. For his work in this area, Jeff was awarded the Martin Luther King, Jr. Oasis of Freedom and Justice Award, which was given by the Joshua Project in January 2007.

Jeff received a B.A. in Religion from Mississippi College and a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served in several churches prior to coming to Mt. Vernon.

Jeff is married to Jo Ellen and they have two children.
Jeff can be reached through the Mt Vernon Church office.
