What is the best way for me to plug into Mt. Vernon?
It is hard to say which is the best way, but two ways are through service on a ministry team or through one of our Life Groups. Both of these offer you the opportunity to connect with other people.

At Mt. Vernon we want to help lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We feel that this is best done in a true small group atmosphere. Also, not having adult Sunday School helps our members participate on one of our ministry teams on Sunday morning, which helps create a positive environment for everyone attending.

From the moment you pull into the parking lot, you'll be made to feel at home. Our parking team will direct you as you enter the parking area and will point you to our first and second time guest parking of you want. Then, our greeters will be ready to give directions or answer any questions you may have. If you have children (age 0 to 4), you'll want to take advantage of Discovery Zone which is designed just for them.
As you enter the worship center, our ushers will welcome you, hand you the message notes and direct you to your seat. Then, sit back, relax, and enjoy the service!

Whether it is your first time at Mt. Vernon, or you've been attending for years, you never know what to expect during our hour long service. From the moment you walk in the door, until the moment you leave, we are committed to a creative, fun, and challenging presentation of God's truth. You’ll find a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with exciting, contemporary worship music. A printed outline for notes and a large-screen for videos and worship songs.

If you are visiting for the first time, we will not embarrass you, have you stand up, or ask you to give money. We know that many people want to check out the church and “be anonymous” for a while—and that’s fine with us! Come in, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, and see if this is the church for you.

You’ll find most people wearing casual clothes. However, come in what is comfortable for you, because Mt. Vernon is not about what you look like or what you wear.

LifeGroups are an important part of Mt. Vernon; in fact, you haven’t fully experienced the church until you’ve experienced our LifeGroups. LifeGroups allow you to meet others and develop relationships that will encourage your relationship with God. As Mt. Vernon grows, lifegroups allow us to “stay small” and connected. LifeGroups are available for all ages. Click here for more information on LifeGroups.

We are a partner with the  Golden Triangle Baptist Association, Mississippi
Baptist Convention and the  Southern Baptist Convention.  These associations
help us carry out the Great Commandment (Matthew 23: 37-40) and the Great
Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).  Through these associations we help support
over 8,000 missionaries in 126 countries around the world

There is no denominational control or hierarchy, as there is in most other
denominations.  We are self-governed and determine our own affairs.  We
choose our own pastor, own our buildings and assets, and determine our own
programs.  We also associate with many other organizations to carry out our
work, such as Willow Creek Association, North Point Church, and Purpose
Driven Ministries, etc.
